The subject matter for my larger scale paintings revolves around architecture (especially concrete structures, military and industrial buildings), nuclear science and technology, Cold War history and landscape.
The actual process of painting and the materials used are equally important in my work. Working on unstretched canvas not only allows me the cut the material to shape but also lets me fold the canvas over on itself during the painting process and also (potentially) to work on both sides which is something I would like to explore more in the future. In this way, I consider each painting to be an object in it's own right and not just a surface onto which an image is described.
